New Light Lodge 744 does not meet in December. This lodge is unique in that it meets in two locations depending on the month – Sept., Oct., Nov., Jan. in Cambridge (1 Groh Ave) and February, March, April, May, in Waterloo (440 Weber St. N).
Brotherhood Lodge 723 completed a short business meeting, at which Grand Lodge certificates were presented to recently raised MMs, before closing and joining Temple Lodge 690, for their combined December meeting and wine & cheese fellowship night. The evening became somewhat of a three-lodge evening, as both lodges assisted visiting brethren from Waterloo Lodge, to complete an enjoyable 2nd degree for Brother Mark Diebold. The evening really showed the inclination and ability for brethren from several lodges in the district to work together in harmony and success, and the night was enjoyed by all. Brotherhood’s trestleboard reported 1 new applicant, 1 awaiting FC, 1 awaiting MM; while Temple’s trestleboard reports 1 awaiting MM, and 3 new applications.
Preston Lodge 297 at the first meeting of their Masonic year, raised Brother Alan Brossault to the 3rd degree, and also presented a GL certificate to Brother Bruce Conning following him proving his proficiency in the 3rd. The trestleboard reports 4 awaiting FC. On a sadder note, the lodge was called upon by the family of W. Bro William McMurtie, P.M of Lodge 51 of Ayshire Scotland, upon his passing to the Grand Lodge above, to perform a memorial service on Dec 21. We cherish his memory in our hearts.
Glenrose Lodge 628 elected VW Brother Ron Bock to the East.
Mystic Tie Lodge 279 enjoyed a short “business only” meeting, followed by their annual Christmas dinner.
Twin City Lodge 509 recognized several brethren for long service to Masonry – W. Bro. Steve Arnold (WM in 1990) received his 25 year pin. W. Bro. Dave Lowater (WM in 1967) received his 50 year pin. The lodge also had the pleasure of passing Bro. Jason McCullough to the 2nd Degree. The trestleboard reports 1 awaiting EA, 5 awaiting MM, and 1 new application.

New Dominion Lodge 205 at the first regular meeting of their Masonic year, jumped right in and provided an excellent 3rd degree for Sean Rutherford of Waterloo lodge before a full lodge room, showing again the Masonic virtues of kindness and assistance. December also saw brethren and families enjoy a well attended Christmas Social and Pot-Luck held at the Lutheran Church in Waterloo. The summons mentions 1 awaiting MM and 1 new applicant.
Waterloo Lodge 539 experienced a very busy December. At the regular meeting W. Bro. Bob Gregory was re-elected as master, following which the lodge held their traditional wine & cheese fellowship evening. Later in the month officers and brethren visited New Dominion 205, who hosted the raising of Brother Sean Rutherford to the 3rd degree. And yet again in December the lodge visited once more, this time to the combined Christmas season meeting of Temple 690 and Brotherhood 723, where these lodges hosted the passing of Brother Mark Diebold to the 2nd degree. Thanks to the brethren of the district for their fraternal assistance and fellowship!
